Modhas our origin story: A Legacy of Integrity and Dedication

Modhas Origin Story - Paying homage to the institution that is Modhas and its founders; Our Mum & Dad.

On the 1st of January, 1982, a remarkable journey began—not just for a new-born (me at 1 day old!), but for a vision that would shape the future of a family and a community. This day marked the inception of Modhas, a firm built on the unwavering principles of hard work, integrity, and dedication. It was a serendipitous coincidence that as I took my first breath, my parents in law, Pragna Modha and Nirbhayshanker Govindji Modha, were embarking on a path that would intertwine our lives and destinies in the future, one that couldn't have been planned, perfected or predicted. We would grow together. In preparation for each other, as if it were preordained.

The Founders: Pragna and Nirbhayshanker

Dad had begun his accountancy career in 1975 having worked with a number of large firms in Harley Street and Mum had been a diligent civil servant. Pragna and Nirbhayshanker are not just our parents; they are pioneers in their own right. With limited resources but an abundance of ambition, they set out to create a reputation that would stand the test of time. Their journey was fuelled by a deep commitment to quality, community and service, principles that they instilled in every aspect of their life and work.

Building a Reputation

The foundation of Modhas was laid brick by brick through the following core values:

• Hard Work: From the very beginning, mum and dad understood that success would not come easy. They dedicated countless hours to building Modhas, often sacrificing personal time, working united as a family (their children Hiren and Archana would chip in to help and learn the ropes as young people) they were hoping to build on the solid foundations of the values and blessings instilled by our grandparents. And were driven to succeed and give fruition to all the blessings of our elders.

• Integrity: Trust was paramount. They believed that honesty and transparency would be the cornerstones of their work and life. This commitment to integrity resonated with clients and community members alike, establishing a solid reputation that would attract many clients (who became friends like family) through word of mouth.

• Dedication: Their dedication to their craft was evident in every interaction. They treated every client as a partner, going above and beyond to meet their needs and exceed expectations.

• Word of Mouth: The Modhas name began to spread through the music and production industry, not through advertisements or marketing gimmicks, but through the genuine satisfaction of their clients. Each recommendation was a testament to their hard work and commitment. A web of connected creatives that would pay testament to mum and dads efforts.

A Preordained Connection

I joined Modhas in 2015 having spent a decade in the civil service; it became clear to me that our destinies were intertwined. The firm was not just a business; it was an extension of our family values and a reflection of our parents' relentless spirit. Each milestone achieved by Modhas was a shared victory, a testament to the love and effort poured into this endeavour. We joined hands and hearts, to build and grow on mum and dads hard work. We hoped to bring an essence of these values to our children Shyaama and Jyoti, they would come to our offices and bask in the values of their grandparents, and would come and "work" for us in their holidays as little people.

Today, as we look back on the journey that began on that fateful day in 1982, we celebrate the legacy of Pragna and Nirbhayshanker Modha. Their vision, hard work, and dedication have not only built a firm but have also created a lasting impact on the community. The story of Modhas is one of resilience, integrity, and the belief that with dedication and the right values, anything is possible. Together, we continue to honour their legacy as we move forward, committed to the same principles that brought us to where we are today.

Modhas Accounting Services Limited, is the brainchild of our parents. It is an iteration of Modhas - and as it unfolds on a new journey, a new path, I hope that the values, blessings and foundation remain. That I continue to grow the Modha name and make our parents proud.
